Obituary of Katherine Rose nee. Mooney, published in the Ontonagon Herald, Ontonagon, Michigan, February 3, 1923, shows:
Mrs. Albert Rose of this village died at St. Joseph's hospital, Hancock, from bright's disease which she had been suffering from for four years. The deceased was a popular and well known resident here. Her maiden name was Catherine Mooney, the eldest of seven children of Mrs. R. Mooney. Her father was the late Robert Mooney, well known hotel man, being proprietor of the New Ontonagon Hotel here for eleven years, and also postmaster for a term of two years. Catherine Mooney Rose was born in Alpena, Michigan, November 28, 1877, and came to here with her parents when four years old. She attended the public schools in here and was married December 31, 1908, to Albert Rose of Baraga. One child blessed this union, Catherine Alicia Rose, who with the husband, survive the deceased. For the past year Mrs. Rose has been in poor health and has struggled daily against the ailment which has taken hold of her system. Two weeks ago she went to St. Joseph's hospital, Hancock, for treatment, but received no encouragement there. Mrs. Rose has been a patient sufferer, but always sustained a cheerful appearance. Up to the last week of her illness she was able to visit among her friends of whom she had a great many. She possessed a true Christian spirit and was generous to a fault. It has been said that in times of sorrow or trouble she was the first to offer sympathy or aid. Her's was a familiar figure about this town and one that will be missed by many. She was always prominent in all affairs of the Catholic church of which she was a member. She was also a member of the Lady Maccabees, and Degree of Honor lodges and the Priscilla Club. The funeral was held at the Holy family Catholic church, Fr. LaMotte officiating at Requiem High Mass. The pall bearers were namely: John Jones, Joseph Donnelly, Edward Carroll, Walter O'Brien, James Moran and Ira Dowd. Many floral pieces manifested the esteem in which the deceased was held. Besides the bereaved mother, husband and daughter, she leaves three brothers, James of Houghton; Charles and Joseph Mooney, who reside here. Those who were here attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. James Mooney and family, of Houghton; Mrs. Thomas St. Arnold, of Baraga; Miss Louise Roosen, of Hancock, a life long friend of the deceased, and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Verrier, of Mass City.

Mrs. Rose, age 88, died Sunday afternoon at a local nursing home. Born in Roscommon, Mich., she had lived in Muskegon since 1929. The former Vernie Draper married Arthur B. Rose and he preceded her in death in 1934. Until her retirement, she worked as an inspector at the Brunswick Corp. for 25 years. She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, life member of the Maccabees and the Golden Agers.
                        Survivors
Two sons, Eldred of Milwaukee and Raymond of Muskegon; three daughters, Mrs. Wesley (Isabel) Prentiss of Hesperia, Mrs. Eileen (Til) Rainwater of Muskegon and Mrs. Neil (Nishime) "Marg" Lux of Muskegon Heights; 16 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and one brother, Raleigh of Baraga, Mich. Two sons, Ralph and Ivan preceded her in death.
                        Service
Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock from the Clock Chapel with Elder Charles Evans officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

He was born 23 May 1892 at Marinette, Wisconsin and moved to Baraga at the age of 12. He was employed by the Ford Motor Company in L'Anse for 33 years. He worked for Northwoods Lumber Company for 5 years. He was a retired member of the Baraga Volunteer Fire Department. In his youth he was active in local baseball and (note: obituary is very difficult to read from here on).

Mrs. Fred Rose, age 33, died at her home in Baraga last week Thursday at 10:45 a. m. The deceased had been ill the past two years and had been confined to her bed the past four months. A husband and three daughters, Antionette, Janette and Loraine survive a loving wife and faithful Mother. The funeral services were held Saturday morning at St. Ann's church, Rev. Fr. Dovenberg officiating. Interment was in the Baraga cemetery.

Bohmier - Rose.

Tuesday morning at the Holy Name church rectory at Assinins, Miss Edna Bohmier became the bride of Frederick Rose, Msgr. Faust performing the ceremony in the presence of intimate friends. Miss Laura Bond acted as bridesmaid, while James Bohmier, a brother of the bride, assisted the groom. Following the ceremony the party drove to the bride's home, where a wedding breakfast was served. A reception was tendered the couple in the afternoon. The contracting parties are both well known, having resided in Baraga for years, and they were the recipients of many beautiful gifts and hearty well wishes. They will reside in Baraga.

She was born Jan. 9, 1895 in Wisconsin and was married to William St. George on June 8, 1937 in L'Anse (He passed away in 1972). She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, The Altar Society, and the American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors are listed as two sons, Robert of L'Anse and Richard St. Arnold of Ohio; two daughters, Mrs. Walter (Louise) Sanagret and Mrs. Reino (Julie) Koski, both of Muskegon; 15 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. The mass of Christian Burial was held at Sacred Heart Church, Fr. Thomas Andary officiated. Interment took place in the Evergreen Cemetery.
