23 Seniors To Go East; Group Will Visit N. Y.
A highlight for a number of high school seniors is the Eastern Tour which will begin on March 23 and last until March 28. Attending will be Robert Bender, Joe Rhodes, John Ponath, Larry Kapheim, Charles Wendt, David Pfaffenbach, Sherry Rippe, Cam Olson, Susan Kehl, Joan Reinhard, Kathryn Reynolds, Marsha Wendt, Cynthia Loeb, Edith Neimannn, Jean Blegen, Lois Radloff, Phyllis Hertel, Sue Mears, Patricia Zeimis, Susan Kressin, Joanne Gmeinder, Susan Turke, and Richard Podolske. Watertown High School Principal Eugene Tornow and Miss Myra MacInnis will act as chaperons for the students. The six-day educational tour will take the students to such high spots as Washington, D. C., Mount Vernon, Arlington, New York City, and the United Nations Building. The flaming steel mills of Pittsburgh that light up the sky at night, Harper's Ferry, and John Brown's Monument are some highlights to be seen the first and second day. Smithsonian Institute, the National Museum of Natural History Building, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, and the White House, home of our President, will also be seen the second day. At Arlington National Cemetery, where lie thousand of men who served their country, and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the impressive changing of the guard ceremony will also be witnessed. Mount Vernon, the Pentagon Building, Lincoln Memorial, Thomas Jefferson Monument are other items of interest for Tuesday. The United States Capitol Building, Supreme Court Building, and Archives Building, where the Declaration of Independence and Constitution of the United States are displayed will be visited on Wednesday. On Thursday, the Empire State Building, Greenwich Village, Brooklyn Bridge, Wall Street, the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, Harlem, Columbia University, St. Patrick's Cathedral, and the United Nations Building will be viewed in the morning and afternoon. In the evening, a fabulous stage production will be seen at Radio City Music Hall. Friday will find the students at Radio City, Rockefeller Center, and the National Broadcasting Radio and Television Studios. The students will then return via train to Chicago, then Milwaukee and home. This interesting and educational tour is certain to be a valuable experience for everyone in attendance.

Some of the male graduates of the Watertown High School Class of 1959 continued their education at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, with most of them staying their first year on campus at Jones House, Kronshage Residence Hall, alongside Lake Mendota. Watertown residents living there included: Leigh Larson, John Ponath, David Pfaffenbach, Larry Kapheim, Richard Podolske, and Daron Zimmermann.
Leigh Rex Larson graduated June 10, 1963, from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, Dane Co., WI, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME).

WHS holds 60th class reunion
Watertown High School class of 1959 held its 60th class reunion on July 13 at Lindberg's By the River. Dale Wetzel, emcee for the event, welcomed 45 classmates plus guests. Classmates came from Arizona, Alaska, Illinois, Utah, Indiana, Maryland, California and Wisconsin. A moment of silence was held for the 51 classmates, now deceased. Judy (Melcher) Reu led the guests in the schools song and read emails from classmates unable to attend.
